Eleonora Marconi, Chianti Rufina, Frescobaldi Winemaker #SommChat Guest 6/7
Eleonora Marconi was born and grew up in San Benedetto del Tronto in the Marche region of Italy. Interested in wine from a young age, Eleonora became a trained sommelier shortly after high school. Afterwards, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Viticulture and Oenology in 2009 with honors at the Polytechnic University of Marche, where she wrote her senior thesis on the effect of micro-irrigation on Sangiovese grapes in Rosso Piceno DOC.
While attending university, Eleonora began her training at Castello di Nipozzano in 2005 as an intern. The daughter of an Italian and an Australian, Eleonora had always wanted to explore her Australian roots. So, after graduating, from 2010 – 2012 Eleonora split her time between Castello di Nipozzano, working the Northern Hemisphere vintage, and McLaren Vintners in South Australia for the Southern Hemisphere vintage. In 2012 she decided to join the Frescobaldi family full time at Nipozzano, where she carries out all winemaking at the estate.
