#KoolKeeperSummer Exploring Sister Suggestions

Of all of the elements that make up the relationship between my sister and myself, sharing is perhaps the most prominent. We share clothes, genes, a sense of humor—you name it. But most of all, we share the same deep love for food and exploring new culinary experiences.

Whether we’re at home in Kansas City for the holidays, visiting one another at our different schools or away on vacation, what and where we are going to eat is always the topic of conversation. Thus, when I decided to move to Austin for the summer, she couldn’t wait to share her list of favorites from her time spent here in college for the past 4 years.

Given the numerous suggestions and relatively limited amount of time that I have been in the city so far, I feel as I’ve only scratched the surface. But thus far, of all of my sister’s many go-to’s that I have stopped by, I’m truly yet to be disappointed.

This week’s exploration took me to a wide range of restaurants, some classic, casual Austin institutions and others more modern or health-conscious. For my sister, many of these places were easy, no brainers during her time in Austin due to their consistently delicious food and fun atmospheres. Personally, my own journey exploring the Austin food scene has only just begun. I’m ecstatic about continuing to try for myself the many recommendations I’ve received.

Check out my suggestions below and the pictures in the gallery for a few of my sister’s favorites Austin spots. Thanks to her willingness to share, these have likewise become some of my favorites as well!
