Of all of the characteristics I adore about Austin, this city’s emphasis on and love for fitness and health has always excited me. While it seems as if the rest of the country is trending towards healthier food and restaurant options, Austin truly was a leader in this domain (hint, hint...Whole Foods). For me, simply being in the city this summer has allowed me to embrace local, seasonal produce from farmers markets around the city. And though I’ve loved cooking and creating healthy meals using these ingredients, I’ve also come to love Austin’s restaurants dedicated to fresh, nutritious dishes.
