Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: Grew up in a family that had an agriculture background in #greece and wine became part of my personality. My parents started making #wine as a hobby and then professionally - I am 2nd generation #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: We create 10 #wines - 5 white and 5 red in total and production is about 50-60K bottles per year. We work with @DNSWines for distribution in #US. 6 of the wines come to the US as of now #sommchat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: We are organic farming and have 10 h/a so you can see that our production is small compared to our vineyard size. We are focused on quality rather than quantity to produce fruit that is beautifully intense resulting in the #Wines #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: At some pt my father realized that there were 2 grapes that were not well known in #Greece and he couldn't identify them so he referred them to the University - they did not know what the grapes were either... #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: My father happened to have planted some grapes in our front yard of our house and he called that the vineyard of democracy BC he wanted to see what would work He discovered some grapes as he was exploring... #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: We did DNA tests 2 make sure grapes were not called something else N another place N world & we were told they were different than grapes anywhere else - only found in #Greece and our winery was the only one to have them & are only producer today #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: Our vineyards R on top of a hill about 160 meters high and we are surrounded by big mountains that have 2000 meters of altitude. most impt thing we have is we are 30 kilometers from Sea that give constant sea breeze during the day... #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: We are not replacing my father's knowledge from his experience just supporting it with Science studies We want to bring out the character of our land making pure #wines. We let the vineyards create the #wines without 2 much intervention. #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: When we produced our first #wine in 2007, we were asked for some samples and we had not made labels yet. My mother said 'I will write them as we do at home, so that they know which #wine is which one'. She is an artist by nature..... #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: The people loved the #wines and loved the labels, so my mother keeps writing by hand every label - she is getting tired sometimes so this may change in future #SommChat

KeeperCollection @KeeperColl: @NerantziDomaine Viticulture in UR region (Macedonia) goes back to 5000 BC. we understand There are still pieces of pottery from that era scattered in the soil of UR #vineyards. can you tell us more #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: We find pieces of pottery in our #vineyards that date back to the day that humans stopped moving around & stopped hunting for their food & they started creating the 1st cities ever, they started farming and storing #food for winter ... #SommChat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: They started creating polis which means cities & storing grains and #wines 2 have enough energy to get thru winter, so they did not have to move around.

The winery is very close to the village Pentapolis which meant the biggest city of 5 cities #sommchat

Evi Mitropoulou @NerantziDomaine: : Asprouda Serron is white #wine with lots of depth and full bodied also pairs well with meat which can be unusual but great. #SommChat Koniaros is a #wine with lots of tannin & more delicate body can be paired with meat that has no fat like quail & venison.
