Jean Michel-Cazes: The history of #wine has been ups and downs - my family started in 30s and it was a terrible time to be in #wine business. My Grandfather was able to buy #LynchBages because the owner then wanted & needed to sell & couldn’t find buyer... #SommChat
Jean Michel-Cazes: At the time #winemaking techniques haven’t changed since 19th century and knowledge of enology was extremely limited and winery equipment had not been updated … #SommChat
Jean Michel-Cazes: World War II did not help! In the 50s and 60s things started to change as people came with new knowledge and procedures in #Bordeaux and people became interest in exploring different #wines like #Bordeaux #SommChat
Jean Michel-Cazes: Alexis Lichine born in Moscow, studied in Paris and living in US made a huge impact on #wine comprehension. The first author apt #wine and #spirits in the 50s and first to do blind tastings - #SommChat

Jean Michel-Cazes: 2017 was a very difficult vintage for many #Bordeaux people because many were affected total production down 40% and not happened since 1991, which was worse. However some appellations were protected and in #Paulliac we were the lucky ones… #SommChat
Jean Michel-Cazes: In 2017 #Paulliac #St Estephe and #stjulien on left bank of the Gironde River were protected by the big mass of water which was a temperature buffer. It was as atypical year. Quality for these 3 areas was excellent. #SommChat

Kinou Cazes-Hachemian: Besides #wine, #cooking is a passion - I love to cook with old family recipes. Since our family is diverse, I like to cook from all of the different traditions and pair with our #Bordeaux #wines of #Lynch-Bages… #SommChat
Kinou Cazes-Hachemian: I have French recipes, MY mom is #portuguese and my husband is #persian so I use all of these to enjoy with our #wines #meats especially #lamb is traditional for #paullac and I do stews from my mom’s heritage… #SommChat
Kinou Cazes-Hachemian: and persian recipes from my husband’s family all go so well with #Lynch-Bages ! My father and I have even co-authored a #Cookbook I took care of the recipes in the books and my father covered the pairing and the history #SommChat

Jean Michel-Cazes: in #Bordeaux we do not feel that we have been as affected as others like #CDP. we are working on new ways of pruning the vines, new species to be resistant, etc. we know we need to be aware for the generations that follow me #SommChat

Jean Michel-Cazes: I am retired from taking everyday decisions which is a big relief. My next Generation is doing great with taking #Lynch-bages forward. I get to do things I enjoy but my children have taken over the day-to-day items #SommChat
Jean Michel-Cazes: I’m very lucky to have good relationship with my children. My son has taken over N #Pauillac & Kinou N #US & #Bordeaux. We have family meetings every 3 months & we enjoy working together. I have 2 other daughters who are also interested N #lynchBages 1 is N #beijing right now #SommChat
