Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: The beauty of this event is that the support has gone full circle in that we take gr8 wines and expose them to the public and the procreeds of the ticket sales are donated to 2 charities. #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: The #wines are selected by Master #Sommelier Peter Granoff @enorider my biz partner and me with the goal to create a well-rounded and diverse selection focusing on the top quality of #wines that we would want to sell in the store… #SommChat
Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: Tickets are available on our website bit.ly/161b37, in person, at the store, or on the day of the event. Tickets are only $35 for over 200 #wines - what a deal! We made the price inexpensive BC the goal is 2 make the event extremely accessible to every1. #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: My main philosophy is that it is easy to present a #wine that ppl know and love but so much more gratifying to present a fantastic new discovery - that excitement continues to drive my passion for wine. #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: Not every #wine is immediately available at the store. We will craft selections based on special orders which we will offer 2 weeks after event. Order form will be available on day of the event & online. #wines with limited availibiltiy are noted on the order form…. #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: My parents will kill me for saying this but it was 1 of my 1st quotes when asked “my mother was a lousy cook and my dad drank jug wine.” It wasn’t self-preservation that brought me to this place. Like many, I started off waiting tables & truly fell N love w/ #wine... #SommChat
Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: It was at that moment that I put my pen down, put the application in the recycling bin and decided to follow my heart and go straight into the #wine Biz. I chose the retail side initially BC I felt that would give me the most exposure to all the #wines of the world. #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: #wines at our shop have a rotation of about 6-700 #wines in #SFO and a smaller selection in #Napa @oxbowcheesewine. Our buying team tastes with suppliers every Thursday and focus on smaller production #wines and look 4 #wines that overdeliver for the price point… #SommChat
Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: We have never bought or sold a wine for our shops that is based on a third party review which is why curating the @texsomiwa selection is a very intense and personal process #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: I founded @bacarSF in 1999 with Chef Arnold Wong & again the goal was to make #wine exciting and accessible which is why we initially had 100 #wines BTG in a very high volume resto…. #SommChat
Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: Any good #Somm will present a mix of #wines that make ppl feel comfortable and/or inspired. Our goal in the #hospitality biz is hospitality… #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: I guess the biggest takeaway for me is a little personal BC I am surrounded @texsomiwa by some of the greatest palates and smartest #wine professionals in the world….. #SommChat
Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: Most of the judges @texsomiwa have initials after their names and I do not. And 4 those who R aspiring 2B 1 of those professionals, I realized how difficult That process is and how meaningful they are. #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: It is a combination of passion and knowledge but desire to learn is what you would need to get your start. PPL will survive working with me if they have a true passion for #wine BC they thirst to learn more. That is really important. #SommChat

Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: I believe that #wine should most often be enjoyed with #food but the beauty of that is experimentation…. #SommChat
Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: You can follow the basic fundamental of #food and #wine pairing but sometimes a tomato can taste diff than another tomato and I will find myself using a #Riesling with 1 & a #gruner w/ the other. Sometimes it is all about subtly and individuality… #SommChat
Debbie Zachareas @Dzwine_Debbie: To date my most memorable #food and #wine pairing was an 85 Chave #Hermitage with a #pepperoni #pizza sitting on the floor of my brand new furniture- less home in #SFO #SommChat
